Hanging Around the Garden

Every good garden, just like every good home, should have some things hanging around. Inside we hang up pictures, rugs, wall hangings, photos, fabric and so on, so why not in the garden too. It’s when we add these little touches that a space, whether inside or out develops it’s own character and personal style.

I’m always on the look-out for garden decor to hang on my garden walls. Often I receive a thoughtful gift and other times I find just the right thing when I least expect to. I came across this welcome sign at a craft fair years ago. It may not be as perfect as it once was, but I like it even more.

This terra cotta smiling sun was purchased in a garden shop. I fell in love with it and couldn’t help but take it home.

One of my favorites just gets better with age and rust. I found this, and for my French hubby, felt is deserved a place in our garden.

An unexpected treasure when a half wine barrel rotted away. I was left with just the rusty rings and thought, why not hang them on the fence. Just maybe the deer won’t like them. Obviously wishful thinking on my part!

Chris found Mr. Moon face and attached him overlooking the rock garden. As you can see it’s a favorite spot for perching birds.

This garden sign hangs on my garden shed and is very special to me as it was made by my niece as a birthday present. It’s been hanging there for years and I’m amazed at how well it is weathering.

A gift from Chris hangs in the daylily patch where I spend a great deal of my gardening time. It really represents what my garden means to me, and never fails to please me.

In honor of our beautiful honey bees. Part of the reason I garden is to provide forage for our apiary. I am always on the lookout for great bee plants that can withstand our garden conditions.

Rusty bells can be annoying in the wind, so they are hung inside a grape vine where they seldom make a a jingle.

Yes, this is a black bear hanging in our tree. He wasn’t planned, but just likes to “hang around” in our garden. The dogs chased him up and wouldn’t let the poor guy come down.
